Tianhao Fu

I’m currently an undergraduate student in Engineering Science 2T9 at the University of Toronto. My major interest is in foundation models that encode modalities together with deep reasoning in language models (MLLM) to solve real-world problems like cancer research. Efficiency work is also an important aspect of my research. I used to be a full-stack developer who mainly focused on Next.js, SpringBoot, and MySQL.

I started working as a full-stack developer since middle school in Shanghai. My research career started in high school at Villanova College. Later I did an internship in medical image processing at Vector Institute.

In 2022, I founded Project Neura and held tens of projects with other members. Noticeably, we developed LEADS as a collaborative project with the VeC team, which is a club in my high school that aims to compete in the University of Waterloo EV Challenge. In addition, we have established a solid foundation in the organizational infrastructure that ensures the ability of fast prototyping and continuous delivery. Libraries like MIP Candy and Erbium have witnessed the rapid growth of our community with members from well-known institutions including Vector Institute, Mila, University of Toronto, McGill University, University of Waterloo, and many others.

In my first semester at the University of Toronto, I joined UTMIST as an internal research team lead working on the AIP project and the SegWithU project. Later in the summer, I joined University Health Network (Princess Margaret Cancer Centre) to work as an undergraduate student researcher in parallel to my research assistant position at Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
